The Israeli Transport Minister,Iranian born Shaul Mofaz, want to go to the history as a Jew who campaigned for a holocaust on Palestinian leaders and the Palestinian resistance .Mofaz well known for his readiness to use crushing military force against Palestinians, has called for 70 slain Palestinians per day, is wanted by the International Court of Justice, for war crimes.
As a staff-commander of IOF,the Israeli Occupation Forces, and a former Defense Minister,Mofaz ordered "targeted killings" against senior Hamas leaders in Gaza , during the Palestinian uprising in the beginning of 2000, he was also involved in the infamous 2002 massacre in the "Martyrs Capital",Jenin refuge camp in the West Bank, in which over 100 Palestinian lost their lives.
Following a barrel of rockets launched by the Palestinian resistance across the border from Gaza, which injured 6 Israelis,a Palestinian response to Israeli military attacks across Gaza, that has killed 16 Palestinian residents and injured many others, some seriously,Shaul Mofaz criticised the Israeli leadership on Sunday.
Mofaz said that, "we must reassume targeted killings against Hamas leadership in Gaza and Israel must convene immediately, " Regarding the Israeli embargo in Gaza condemned by the International Community, Mofaz said that - " It turns out that our policy - of blocking the supply of goods, fuel, electricity, food -shipment and water, is failing to yield desired and expected results"..there is need for an urgent cabinet meeting to determine our policy against Hamas government, it appears that we are the ones acting as the ones interested in a truce, not Hamas.
It should be the opposite"..Mofaz continued,"I don't support a reoccupation in Gaza, it is not the right time now, but we must operate and deal with the leaders of Hamas - we do make our "operations", then we get a wave of missiles on Ashkelon.Should they be allowed to violate the truce while we are not allowed to defend our citizens against injuries."?
In the beginning of a weekly meeting in the Israeli cabinet on Sunday, the Israeli Prime Minister stated that -" We must work to restore the calm in the southern parts of our Jewish state. It is not in our best interest to fight with the Palestinians in Gaza. Though we do not fear a battle, we should not accept the performance of " terror" organizations( the Palestinian resistance). We have made operations in Gaza and we will continue to target those who are violating the truce." Olmert added that instructions are given for a plan of action,to be presented to him .."as soon as possible, we will be prepared in case the truce will fall apart."
On Wednesday the Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is expected to announce his cabinets decision regarding renewing the truce. Due to the embargo of fuel shipment, the only Gaza electric power plant stopped working and delivery trucks, with food and stationary supply shipment from UNWRA,intended for 750.000 Palestinians, most of them living in refugee camps across Gaza, were turned away.
On Sunday an Israeli air strike killed four member of Al Nasser Brigades.Fawzi Barhoum the Hamas spokesperson in Gaza, said after the attack, that "The part that is violating the truce agreement, time after time are the Israelis, who has trespassed Palestinian territory with warplanes and tanks killing our people -the Israeli military operations ,and the Israelis open threats to kill our leaders, will not prevent Hamas and other Palestinian political organizations from responding".
Abu Mujahed, a spokesman for the PRC,the Popular Resistance Committees vowed actions to the Israeli escalation of criminal activities across Gaza he said:"For us, the calm is over and we won't renew it... we will respond after every Israeli attack - in every location. "
On Sunday, after 2 weeks of Israeli airstrikes on Gaza, the Ramallah PLO office broke the silence.A Fatah spokesperson, and former long time adviser to the late Palestinian President Yasser Arafat,Nabil Abu Rdeineh, made an announcement to the press. He stated that the PO chairman,Mahmoud Abbas intentions are to ask Ehud Olmert during a meeting scheduled in Jerusalem on Monday, to maintain the truce between the Israeli military and the Palestinian resistance in Gaza.
